When It Rains It Pours

October 25th, 2005 by staceyface

I consider myself a pretty lucky girl.  When I was in junior high, I won the regional spelling bee contest AND "Best Veteran’s Day" drawing all in the same week.  I went on to become the president of Spanish Club and Miss Teen Iowa.  I’m not lyin’.

But lately, my luck seems to have dried up.  My campfire has been soaked.  Yep, when it rains it pours.

Ever spend an entire night in the ER, and then lose your job when the sun came up?  Watch someone you love be put in the ground?  Wonder what you’re doing with your life?  Feel like its all moving too fast, even though you still feel like an awkward teenager?  Seriously consider eating Ramen noodles every day to scrape by?  Wish you could convince the Powers That Be to offer you that dream job (you know which one) you know you can do even though your resume is crap?

*sigh*  Come give me a HUG.

When I was Captin of the Cheer Squad I woud go "Rah rah rah," do a toe touch, and MAKE myself feel better.  You know, get down with SPIRIT!

But right now, I’m really wondering what is going to happen after the storm, or if the storm will even go away before the new year.

Will everything be Comin’ Up Roses?  Or is everything just going to be really soggy and wet.  I used to know the answer.

But that was when I had luck.

L.A. Theatre

I recently read an article by Casting Director Mark Sikes—a regular "round table" columnist for Actors Access.  His short rant can be read this week at actorsaccess.com and there is a button that enables readers to email him feedback, thoughts etc. on his column.  The basis of his essay this week was "Bad Theatre in L.A." and I found the column extremely offensive, negative, and most of all, completely useless to the aspiring actor/director/writer in Los Angeles.  These columns were designed to help artists, not shut them down.  If you have a chance, please read the article and, if you are equally offended, please send him your thoughts.
